For giving autonomy back to women and their children escaping violence
Cascina Ri-Nascita is the new important project ideated by the Centro Antiviolenza SVS Donna Aiuta Donna (SVS DAD) and the Casa di Accoglienza delle Donne Maltrattate di Milano (CADMI). It will be realized together with the Associazione Sportiva Dilettantistica Campacavallo. The focus of the project is to create a safe place for women with children who are minors or still adolescents, and who are escaping from a situation of domestic violence. The goal is to give them back self-confidence, psychological well-being, serenity, and economic and residential autonomy.
The Fondazione Prossimo Mio immediately decided to be a part of this project as a co-financer, and to support the activities for children.
The project envisions the realization of a building composed of small autonomous housing units to host the women with their children. The guests may live in the farmhouse for up to a maximum of two years. In addition to medical, legal, and psychological assistance during this time, they will be taught skills so that they can reconstruct an independent life for themselves that is free of violence once their time living in the program’s housing is over. An important part of the activities will be directed to the kids who are also victims of violence in direct or indirect forms in order to give them the support that they need to free themselves of the effects of their traumatic experiences. Based on their inclinations and expectations, the guests will follow training courses and apprenticeships. Among the more than 1000 women cared for by SVS Donna and CADMI, every year 90 of them can be hired part-time by the social cooperative for 12 months. With a richer educational and professional curriculum, they will have greater possibilities to find jobs suited to their needs and for residential autonomy for their future lives.
In its beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces, Cascina Ri-Nascita will support various activities such as pet therapy, dog-training, day care for dogs, the production and sale of organic food, stables, an organic food bistro open to the public, a restaurant, the sale of agricultural and handcrafted objects during weekly markets, in addition to workshops for restoration, high level cabinetry, embroidery, tailoring, and dressmaking.
