Take to heart elderly people’s desire to be able to continue to take care of their own pets.

As birthday candles on the cake multiply, many people can’t manage to take care of their pets, anymore, and for this reason have to give up their company and the benefits that come from it.
With REGALA UNA PASSEGGIATA, you will contribute to the PortaMI a Spasso project. It puts in play new actions for the elderly and their animal friends to help these seniors get over the various problems that can arise. The first phase involves the training of operators able to furnish social- and health-related assistance and to manage pets at home… and, why not, to do all of this while taking a walk in the park!

It has been demonstrated, in fact, that a positive correlation exists between having a pet and the well-being of the pet’s owner. This relation is stronger when the pets perform a role in satisfying the needs of elderly adults (McConnell et al., 2011).

PortaMI a Spasso is part of a bigger and already launched project: CuraMI&ProteggiMI. It furnishes a set of integrated services prioritizing the well-being of the elderly, and was realized by the Fondazione Ravasi Garzanti, the Cooperativa Sociale Eureka!, the Associazione InCerchio, and the Cooperativa Piccolo Principe Onlus.
